The Cobra Museum of Modern Art Amstelveen focuses on the art and ideas of the Cobra movement. Cobra is part of the canon of art history, but the ‘spirit’ of Cobra is still very much alive. An alternative culture, based on international solidarity and creativity, is perhaps more relevant than ever in the world we live in today. The Cobra Museum therefore actively links the collection and history of Cobra to contemporary artists, modern art movements and current affairs.
Mission & vision
The Cobra Museum of Modern Art Amstelveen presents and curates its own collection, presents national and international exhibitions of 20th-century and contemporary art, and offers a wide range of public activities ‘to educate and entertain’ the residents of Amstelveen, the residents of the Amsterdam Metropolitan Area, all Dutch citizens and international visitors.
Board
Stichting Cobra Museum voor Moderne Kunst Amstelveen was established as a one-tier board model, in which supervisors and director form one board. The board, in consultation with the director, is in charge of determining the policy and setting the financial guidelines. The director is in charge of day-to-day management and periodically reports to the board. Responsibilities and authorities within the organisation are laid down in management regulations and authorised by the board. This is also included in the annual audit, in which the auditor and the director inform the board in writing of issues raised during the audit, insofar as these are relevant to the annual accounts.
The composition of the board is periodically evaluated internally. The performance of the director is evaluated by and with the board. An annual performance assessment interview is held for this purpose.

Anbi (year report)
Since 1 January 2008, the Cobra Museum of Modern Art Amstelveen Foundation has been registered with the tax authorities as an institution for general benefit (ANBI). As of 2012, the Cobra Museum of Modern Art Amstelveen Foundation has been appointed as a cultural ANBI. Donors to cultural ANBIs have an extra tax advantage as of 2012, because an additional donation deduction applies to them.

Remuneration policy
The salary and the regulation of the other terms of employment of the director are determined by the board with due regard to the applicable laws and regulations. The other members of the board do not receive any remuneration for the performance of their duties.
