Shinkichi Tajiri

Los Angeles -

Los Angeles 1923, Baarlo 2009

Shinkichi Tajiri was born as Shinkichi George Tajiri in Los Angeles on the 7th of December, 1923. He was a versatile artist. Although he has expressed himself in many disciplines he mainly contributed as an experimental sculptor to CoBrA. Next to that he was a painter and has occupied himself with photography, film and computer graphics. Versatile, overtly means that Tajiri is internationally oriented: American because of his birthplace, Japanese because he was born to Japanese parents of an ancient aristocratic samurai lineage, French because in his artistic career began Paris, and Dutch because he has lived in the Netherlands since 1956.
